For some 29 years, heritage minded folks have been carrying on a tradition of ‘keeping rural music alive’ in Nebraska.  It all started with the Jack & Florence Arnold family.  Both of the parents are now deceased, but Bob & Sheila Everhart, musicologists for the prestigious Smithsonian Institution, took over the reins of an annual gathering of like-minded folks, all of them very concerned about the future of rural music, not just in Nebraska, but in all of America.  (more…)

Hayrack ride times are between 7:00-10:00pm. The cost is $5.00 for kids (12 and under) and $7.00 for adults. This includes cocoa and cookies after the ride. You can call the park telephone number (402) 755-2284 starting at 8:00am on October 6th to reserve your hayrack ride spot for either weekend. A Park Entry Permit is required.

Boy Scouts will be knocking on neighbor’s doors selling sweet and savory popcorn from September 27 through October 26, 2014.

Local Scouts will be out selling popcorn in your neighborhood Saturday, Sept. 27 through Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014. Scouts use the money from popcorn sales to fund summer camping; to purchase gear needed for everything from high adventure to their local Scouting program; to earn scholarship money; and to earn commission for their pack, troop or crew.
